A message from the Chief Executive Officer

May Shaw Health Centre is a leading rural provider of Aged and Community Care and has been part of the Tasmanian East Coast community since the establishment of a Bush Nursing Service in 1921. We are centrally located in Swansea and surrounded by natural beauty ranging from old-growth forests to sparkling beaches including the iconic wine-glass bay.

In conjunction with Federal, State and Local Government we provide a complete range of health services for a population of 4,300 in the Glamorgan/Spring Bay municipality, stretching from Bicheno to Buckland and covering over 2,500 sq kilometres. Over the summer months tourists and holiday-makers will double our population!

With a workforce of more than 80 dedicated and professional staff, we are the largest employer in the municipality and contribute significantly to the local economy.

If you are looking for a quality aged care facility, retirement housing or a range of community health options including emergency care, I hope you will find the answers within this website.
